The RKMCHRC Clinical Skills & Simulation Lab has been part of the college's training environment since its inception. It gives learners a structured space to observe, practise, repeat and refine clinical skills using mannequins, task trainers and simulation-based teaching before those skills are applied in real clinical settings under appropriate supervision.
A bridge between classroom knowledge and clinical performance.
The Skill Lab is designed for repeated, faculty-guided practice in a controlled learning environment. It supports medical education across departments and also provides a practical training setting for nursing teams whenever skill refreshers, demonstrations or simulation sessions are planned.
Built into the RKMCHRC learning journey from the beginning
Clinical competence develops through more than observation. Learners need opportunities to see a technique, understand its sequence, practise it repeatedly, receive feedback and perform it again with greater confidence.
That is the role of the Clinical Skills & Simulation Lab: to create a safe, structured environment in which technical skills, emergency responses, teamwork and professional communication can be rehearsed before or alongside supervised clinical exposure.

The lab supports a simple but powerful learning loop: understand the skill, practise it, perform it in a scenario, review what happened and repeat until the sequence becomes safer and more reliable.

Regular skill sessions use mannequin-based practice to strengthen resuscitation sequence, role allocation, chest-compression technique, airway support, monitoring and coordinated team response. Sessions can be repeated at intervals so that critical steps are refreshed rather than learned only once.

The Skill Lab is a shared institutional resource. Training is adapted to the learner group, the skill being taught and the relevant department or clinical service.
