Overview

The Department of Ophthalmology at Ram Krishna Medical College, Hospital and Research Centre provides comprehensive eye care services covering outpatient consultation, refraction, diagnostic evaluation, medical management, ophthalmic procedures, surgical care and post-operative follow-up.

The department has a 30-bedded Ophthalmology facility for inpatient care, cataract surgery patients, ocular trauma cases, post-operative management and other ophthalmic conditions requiring admission and observation.

Importance

Ophthalmology is a vital clinical department focusing on prevention, diagnosis and treatment of eye diseases. It plays an important role in restoring vision, preventing blindness, detecting systemic disease-related eye changes and improving quality of life through timely eye care.

For medical students, the department provides essential training in visual acuity testing, refraction, anterior segment examination, fundus examination, cataract evaluation, glaucoma screening and ocular emergency management.
