Emergency Response

Overview

The Department of Emergency Medicine at Ram Krishna Medical College, Hospital and Research Centre provides 24x7 emergency care for critically ill and injured patients. The department is designed for rapid assessment, triage, stabilization, resuscitation, trauma care and coordination with specialty departments.

The department has a 30-bedded Emergency Medicine facility, equipped with trauma care equipment, resuscitation support, emergency monitoring systems, defibrillator, ventilator support, oxygen and suction facilities, emergency crash cart and dedicated triage system.

30 Emergency Medicine Beds

Emergency Triage System

Triage is the first and most important step in emergency care. Every patient is rapidly assessed based on severity of illness or injury, vital signs, consciousness level, breathing difficulty, bleeding, pain and risk of deterioration. This ensures that the most critical patients receive immediate attention.

Red Zone - Immediate / Critical

For life-threatening emergencies such as cardiac arrest, severe trauma, shock, respiratory distress, unconscious patients, major bleeding and patients requiring immediate resuscitation.

Yellow Zone - Urgent

For serious but temporarily stable patients requiring urgent evaluation, monitoring, investigation and specialist review.

Green Zone - Stable / Non-critical

For stable emergency patients with minor injuries, mild symptoms or conditions that can be evaluated after critical and urgent cases.

Triage Documentation

Vital signs, presenting complaint, risk level, time of arrival, initial treatment and referral pathway are documented for safe and systematic emergency care.
